The Story So Far...

The Howling Wake are a LA based Celtic roots rock band that create a sound combining traditional Irish melodies, folk harmonies, and the timeless drive of feel good rock.  The origins of the band go back to an acting gig shared by founding members, Sean Duke (lead vocals, guitar, keyboards), and Lenny Citrano (harmonica, vocals). The two working actors met while performing in a play and soon realized they shared a love for music, and a desire for new creative outlets.  Duke and Citrano started performing and recording as Johnny the Boss Man, developing a sound fusing blues and cajun elements.  Five years later, with the addition of mandolin/banjo/bouzouki player/vocalist John Forest, the band evolved towards a stripped down acoustic approach, incorporating Irish reels and a variety of stringed instruments that introduced the haunting celtic colors of the songs.  Finally, rhythm section veterans drummer Dave “Chooch” Choochian and bassist/vocalist Steve Hurley joined the mix. After the Covid quarantine, the group re-emerged with a streamlined and stripped down line up, featuring acoustic guitar, mandolin, acoustic bass, and the addition of percussionist Robert Brazier on kick and snare, supplying a foundation that includes delicate waltzes, swampy stomps, and acoustic romps.  The Howling Wake continue to play steadily around Southern California with their trademark mix of soaring melodies, roaring harmonies, and rousing energy.
